Kindwitwi Kindergarten and Village News

The Kindwitwi Kindergarten has 61 children at the moment, 33 boys and 28 girls.  All children that attend the Kindergarten are children from Kindwitwi Leprosy patients and their families. They go to Kindergarten from 2 years old, and then join Primary school when they are 6 or 7 years old. Mothers of these children are happy because they get time to do other things like fetching water, digging and even going to their fields, so they are thanking donors for their assistance. At the Kindergarten we have two teachers and one cook, all of which is made possible because of donations from RLT. Thank you! The kindergarten is made up of two buildings one for small children and another for older children who can learn to count, and learn English and Kiwashili.

In Kindwitwi we now have grinding machine. This machine was donated by a UK organisation that provides grinding machines to many centers of disabled people in Tanzania. The machine was donated to disabled groups of Kindwitwi via the Tanzania Leprosy Association (TLA); one of Kindwitwi’s former Leprosy patients, Mohamed Mtumbi is member of TLA Kindwitwi Branch. Mohamedi Mtumbi is TLA General Secretary of Tanzania. The grinding machine is now working and is run by Leprosy patients and they also elected two young boys from the village to operate the machine. Everyone from Kindwitwi is happy because now they don’t have to travel 5 kilometers to get their maize ground.
