Associated Organisations

Britain-Tanzania Society: www.btsociety.org

has taken a great interest in our work and provided funds for specific projects over the years. Kindwitwi Villagers are always pleased to welcome the Society’s officials when they visit Tanzania.

GLRA: The German Leprosy and TB Relief Association: www.dahw.de

The GLRA has supported Kindwitwi for many, many years; their Tanzanian representatives have been on the Board of Management playing a vital role in advising and developing our work.

International School of Tanganyika: www.istafrica.com

The School's link with Kindwitwi began in the 1980s when Mike Maybury (Head) and Ernest Polack (Middle School Head) set out to find Father Lamburn 'in a leper colony somewhere in the Rufiji area'. That they did find Kindwitwi and that subsequent Heads and students have taken a positive interest has been to our great benefit. To this day, alternate KLCCDA Board meetings are held in the School and some students go to do their Bac social service in Kindwitwi.

Methodist Relief and Development Fund: www.mrdf.org.uk

MRDF have just finished a three-year sponsorship of some of our valuable work and we are grateful to them,

Persula Foundation: www.persula.org

has sponsored the Polack Dispensary in Kindwitwi since its foundation.

St Lazarus Trust: www.saintlazarus.org.uk

The order of St Lazarus began centuries ago as a response to the then-uncurable disease and the Society is still active today in supporting the work of finding and curing leprosy. RLT considers itself fortunate to have secured funding from them for the next three years.

Tanzanian Health authorities: www.tanzania.go.tz/healthf.html

Utete Hospital

RLT has active links with several departments in Utete Hospital apart from the Leprosy Ward and Dr Mbega's work, eg with the Dental Department.

Utete Secondary School and Queen Elizabeth's Community College: www.queenelizabeths.devon.sch.uk

A new link between Utete Secondary School and Queen Elizabeth’s Community College was initiated in 2006, Mr Noel Mohoza and Mrs Catherine Banks respectively are the key figures. Kindwitwi sends its successful students to Utete School, so it is hoping that in the fullness of time, Kindwitwians will also benefit from this link.
